Heading to Exeter Hospital to tell stories to the staff at 8 a.m. A challenge for me, since the organizer asked for stories the doctors could relate to, stories about medicine or mortality. I searched the archives. Come to find out, I don’t have a lot of medical stories (would welcome suggestions), but just about all my stories have some connection to mortality. Yankees are a morbid bunch. I had another thought: Hygiene is kinda medical related. Which means I can tell all my outhouse stories. Hey, I’m set.
I did find one Exeter Hospital story that I’ll spring on them. Maybe it’s funny. We’ll see.
Fella told me he was born in the Exeter Hospital in 1935. He and his mother stayed in the hospital for two weeks, and the bill was $35. Father always said, “You get what you pay for.”
