Mother sent her boy to the bakery to buy day-old bread for pudding. The baker said, “I’m sorry, we only have fresh. But I’ll sell you a loaf for the price of day old.”
The boy took the bread to Mother who was disappointed. “Now I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to make bread pudding,” she said.
Alden Farrar, one of my favorite storytellers, told this story:
At their 45th high school reunion, a man approached a woman. “You look familiar. Wait a minute. I’ll come up with your name in a minute.”
She said, “I’ll give you a clue. I’m your first wife.”
