Heard this story in Milan. During the Depression a lot of people raised meat rabbits. When Grandma came to live with the family, she announced: “I’m not fussy, but one thing I will say, Don’t feed me rabbit. I will not eat rabbit.”
On Sunday Mother would bring the steaming platter from the kitchen. “Chicken again,” she’d announce as the family tucked in.
The little girl always wondered where Mother got all those four-legged chickens.
