A woman of the mountains told how her mom from the flatlands paid a visit. When Mom went to watch her favorite program, she discovered that channel didn’t come in.
“Next time I visit,” she said, “I’ll bring my TV.”
True story.
Which reminds me – that and the state of my road – of a story from Nottingham. She, too, was entertaining relatives; they were from the South, Virginia I think, and it was about this time of the year. On a driving tour of some Nottingham hot spots, they thumped a dip in the road pretty hard. Teeth rattled, heads bounced off the ceiling.
“Gee,” Auntie from Virginia remarked, “there’s another one of those dry heaves.”
