Sometimes the Moose of Humor (that’s me) travels. Sometimes she stays home. Today is Canadian Meat Pie day. As you know if you’ve read my book, "Live Free and Eat Pie," the official pie of New Hampshire is Canadian meat. It’s a favorite in the North Country. It’s a favorite with anybody who’s tried it!
Recipes are handed down through families and carefully guarded. I can’t give you my recipe because my friend Pauline Dupuis swore me to secrecy when she passed it on to me. And if I gave out the recipe she’d chop me into pieces and bake me in a pie. I will say that all Canadian meat pies, far as I know, include mashed potato, onions, ground pork and beef, and a mix of delicious spices, among them cinnamon and allspice.
If you have a secret ingredient for Canadian meat pie, or feel as though you could share your recipe without repercussions, post it below or shoot me an e-mail at be[email protected] and I’ll post it on the blog.
Does anybody have a recipe for low-carb Canadian meat pie?
