Rick suggested I put out a call for people's favorite fair foods. Fair season is coming right up. Actually, it's already started.

Most years we go to the Deerfield Fair because we're only 15 minutes away. We usually go on Friday night, because that's the Miss Deerfield Fair pageant. Sometimes it's chilly and those poor girls in swimsuits, their goose bumps are big as grapes. Yet they strut on, their smiles frozen in place. And dance and sing or play piano; they recite poems, twirl batons, sometimes do exercise routines -- whatever their talent is. The Miss Deerfield Fair pageant on a cold September night could be considered an extreme sport. Those cool evenings my favorite fair food is hot cider. If I'm feeling really self-indulgent, I go for the baked potato, loaded! My husband likes anything fried. My daughter goes for the candy apples and cotton candy. What's your fair of choice? What's your favorite thing to do or eat at the fair? None of my business. Just wondering. And so was Rick.
