Recently, the Maine Humanities Council chose five books for their next Let’s Talk About It series, and we are excited to announce that they have chosen "Potshot" by Gerry Boyle as one of the five!
Let’s Talk About It is one of the Library Programs that the Maine Humanities Council supports in partnership with the Maine State Library, giving avid readers a chance to discuss books that center around various themes. Subjects for the series span from the "American sporting experience" to "literary perspectives on health care providers and their patients." This year’s theme is Mysteries by Maine Authors, one that many patrons have requested. This particular series aims to give a variety of views on life in Maine and the darker side of human nature.
The series often ties into relevant issues in today’s world, and "Potshot" fits perfectly into the ongoing statewide and national conversation regarding marijuana laws. The novel (the fourth in the McMorrow mystery series) finds our protagonist in rural Maine where he thought he would find a quiet life. Instead, drug dealers and rural hippies ignite the action-packed plot that culminates in brutal violence striking close to home for Jack McMorrow.
With Maine Humanities Council generously loaning books to the libraries, we are honored to have Gerry Boyle’s wonderful work shared and discussed among dedicated readers. We hope they love it as much as we do!
