Hot off the press, Live Free or Undead: Dark Tales from the Granite State is now available for all of you who like a good scare. This anthology of short fiction "in a horror vein," published by PlaidSwede in Concord, N.H., features 20 stories by New Hampshire writers, both new and established, including my very own pal and Islandport Press author Rebecca Rule and Hugo Award-winning James Patrick Kelly.
The project was edited by Rick Broussard, editor of New Hampshire Magagzine. Last fall the NH Writers Project spread the word that submissions were being accepted, and Broussard received more than 150. The next volume planned in this "New Hampshire Pulp Fiction Series" is tentatively titled Live Free or DIE, DIE, DIE, which will feature murder and mystery stories.
The anthology authors have many readings and signings planned. Go to www.livefreeorundead.com for times, dates and places.
The cover illustration, btw, is by Dover, N.H., artist Marc Sutherland.
