Facebook is good for a lot of things like funny pet videos and keeping up with your nieces and nephews. I like liking things and cheering folks on.
On the down side, some people overshare. During this past election, there were quite a few folks who overshared, a lot. I found it kind of intimate, if you know what I’m saying.
One of the hardest things for me on facebook are the lost pets. Oh, they just break my heart, and I scrolled past ‘em fast. Still, they stick with me. The thought of losing Scamp just makes my heart clench and my stomach turn over.
I felt the same way when Charlie told me this story about Aggie Warner.
Aggie Warner Lost Her Cat
“Here, kitty! Here, Corrina!”
We heard the voice before we seen ‘er
Me and Scamp then turned the corner
And come upon ol’ Aggie Warner
Tacking posters to a pole, and
Calling out into the cold
“You seen my cat?” she asked, intently
No, I answered, innocently
“Long black hair, white bib and feet?”
Not while we’ve been on this street
“I’m prayin’ that she isn’t dead
“’Cause if she fought, I’m sure the winner
“Would’ve had her for his dinner”
Aggie, not to be dismissing, but
How long has your cat been missing?
“Her tracks led off in this direction
“‘Round about our last election
“I know I won’t be soon forgetting
“How the news got so upsetting
“Corrina prob’ly had her fill
“And bolted for some quiet hill”
Boy, I told her, that is tough
As if elections weren’t enough!
But you remind me of a friend
Whose missing cat come home again
Two years later, ‘magine that?
In walks Junior’s wayward cat
So though I know you’re feelin’ low
Look up, ‘cause heck, you never know
The afternoon was turning colder
We’ll keep our eyes out’s, what I told ‘er
That’s it for now. Catch you on the flip side!

Invite Ida to Your Book Group
In need of a little pick me up? Sick of reading serious, even depressing books? It's okay for your book group to read something fun every now and then. Something that will make you laugh with some good advice thrown in for good measure. And while you're at it, how about an author visit to spice things up?
I'd love to come to your book group and give you the inside scoop on "Finding Your Inner Moose" and/or "The Sweet Life," especially if food is involved! You can order my books from Islandport Press, your local book store, or the usual suspects (Amazon, Barnes & Noble). Also available for download in your favorite ebook format.
Send me an email or call 207.384.4526 to make a date. We'll have a wicked good time! And remember: what happens in book group, stays in book group, right?
