Whew, still settling down post-Masters. It was an exciting event and a great job by the one-and-only Bubba Watson; especially his historic shot from the woods and the pine straw on the 10th hole in Sudden Death. Great drama. Loved it. ... Meanwhile, still a little shocked by the One Billion Dollars that Facebook paid to acquire Instagram, which, granted, is a great social media service. But $1 Billion (that's with a B)? Wow. And to think I'm fighting an uphill battle to convince some people that ebooks are worth more than 99 cents. ... We are now accepted pre-orders for John Ford's Suddenly, the Cider Didn't Taste So Good. Great book from a former Maine game warden and sheriff. ... Sarah L. Thomson's Mercy: The Last New England Vampire continues to pile up the accolades. Last week, it was named a finalist for the 2011 Maine Student Book Award, which is very cool. Still hoping the indie bookstores in Maine get behind the book a little stronger, but we shall see. The blog, The Vampire Librarian, named it one of the

Speaking of indie bookstores, Google has announced that it is ending its Google ebooks reseller program worldside, directly impacting the ability of some stores to sell ebooks. Many booksellers are disappointed by the decision ... In case you missed it last week, Paul J. Fournier's Tales from Misery Ridge was named Best Book of 2011 by the New England Outdoor Writers Assocation. We have mentioned it before, but we just like saying it. ... Happy to see that delivery of out-of-town newspapers will resume in parts of Eastern Maine. The deliver of such papers as the New York Times was in jeopardy in wake of the demise of Maine-based Magazines Inc., parent of the Mr. Paperback bookstore chain. ... We are always reviewing the exisiting and new social media and sharing programs to see if they provide any benefit to Islandport and readers of our books.
