I had a great time at the Cumberland Fair on Saturday, Oct. 1, where we gave away free copies of "The Pig Scramble" (by Jessica Kinney, illustrated by Sarah S. Brannen) to all the kids who took part in the pig scramble.
It was the first scramble I'd seen in real life, and I was surprised by how quick those little piglets are! In this scramble, all 20 kids went home with (or at least, had the option to go home with) a pig. 20 kids, 20 pigs.
Here's Megan Anderson, 10, from Gorham, and her mom. This was not Megan's first pig scramble, so she managed to snag her pig fairly quickly. It's hard to tell, but look closely at the yellow bag, and there's her pig!
